Secluded in the heart of a quiet neighborhood in the center of Milan, Villa Necchi Campiglio was designed in the early 1930s by architect Piero Portaluppi at the behest of sisters Nedda and Gigina Necchi and Gigina's husband Angelo Campiglio, exponents of an educated Lombard industrial bourgeoisie in step with the times. In addition to the villa, the garden housed the janitor's house with concierge, greenhouse, garage, tennis court and swimming pool (the first privately owned in Milan). The mezzanine floor served as the reception area, while the second floor was reserved for the family's private rooms.
