The Altarese Museum of Glass Art, thanks to a regional grant, has created a museum tour that can be enjoyed by visitors with visual impairments.
The visit can be made freely or with a guide.
In the first case, visitor and companion will find at the entrance and in the main rooms useful information to orient themselves in the structure and understand the contents of the showcases.
The accessibility of the route is achieved through a synergy of elements specially made with the needs of visually impaired visitors in mind:
- tactile maps to orient themselves in the structure;
- lecterns with information supports in braille and in highly readable print, in the main rooms;
- elevator that provides easy access to all floors of the building.
The museum visit can be complemented with a TATTILE LABORATORY, which allows the blind and visually impaired public to come into direct contact with some glass objects. It is possible to touch, with the help of the guide, a series of objects representative of materials, techniques and decorations, for a better understanding of the manufacture and different types of workmanship.
A Braille and high-readability catalog with some of the exhibits has also been created and can be consulted upon request.
